Position – Welfare Officer
Background – I am a qualified and UK registered social worker.
I have been a social worker for 18 years, working mainly in the NHS, mostly working with adults who require support as a result of physical or mental health issues. I eventually became a Senior Manager responsible for over 400 staff, and one of my proudest moments was being awarded the UK Social Worker of the Year 2015
I am registered with the UK Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a social worker.
Prior to becoming a social worker, I served as a soldier in the British Army for 15 years.
After I moved to Spain I became aware of the limited community support for people living in Spain who become unwell and so joined Help at Home to help vulnerable people in our community.
I mainly visit people in their own homes who contact the charity when they are having difficulty living at home.
We offer information and guidance as well as practical support from our amazing volunteers.
A lot of our work involves people who need personal care and so we liaise with reputable care agencies to ensure that when people require personal care they are kept safe and well.
After an assessment we keep in regular contact with our clients to make sure we can adjust the help we provide.
Help at Home is a fantastic charity and I feel very proud to be associated with it. I like to think I know quite a lot about social care and I know that Help at Home Costa Blanca just keeps on getting better and better at helping vulnerable people in this area.
