Red Hat ladies Christmas Lunch

These wonderful ladies meet for lunch every month and they raise funds for Charity.

We are so grateful that they have chosen our charity help at Home Costa Blanca yet again to be the recipient of their efforts to raise money for those in need in our local community.

At their Christmas Lunch they had a competition for the best hats these ladies were the winners.

 

Over 2019 they have donated a little under 2,000 Euros and we have used this to help many of our clients.

Christmas For our clients in need

Happy Boxing day

We hope you all enjoyed your Christmas day yesterday and as a local Charity we are very aware there are many who do not have the resources to enjoy a Christmas meal or the little treats we associate with this time of year.

So on Christmas Eve our President Carmen and Chief Welfare Officer Sheila delivered some food essentials with a few goodies for some our clients in need.
We are so thankful and recognise that we could not do this with out our volunteers time and supporters donations and thank every one of you with all our hearts.

Thank you to our Volunteers Xmas Party

We have had a great year in 2019 and our volunteers have worked very hard , manning the phones and administering the Charity functions, serving in the shops, looking
after the welfare of our clients, driving deliveries to our customers so we wanted to say thank you to everyone and planned for a Christmas Party at The Emerald Isle..

So…..on Thursday 19th December after meticulous planning from Sheila Rowell our Chief Welfare Officer – the Charity Volunteers Christmas Party all came together.
We all had to arrive at 7pm for a traditional three course  Christmas Dinner Meal.

Everyone had pre ordered their Christmas meal and wine and the tables were set. Crackers were ready to pull, white wine was chilling and red was breathing.

Carmen Our President welcomed everyone and then the meal was served.

Sylvia Shaker our Fund raiser had bought a little gift of Ferrero Rocher Chocolates and at the end of the meal we all enjoyed after eight mints.

Carmen our President welcomed everyone and we were ready to go.

The food was served quickly and was piping hot and tasty, the staff were very organised and the service was friendly,

We have a few photographs of the night and at 8pm until 11pm we were entertained by Richie Alexander , the Soul Man of the Costa Blanca.

10,000€ raised for Adiem

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We  have some great news to share with you. We have done it again!!
We have raised a Massive 10,000€ which was our target to help Adiem, so another big  thank you to all our volunteers and generous supporters.

Adiem helps people with mental health problems become more independent. They wish to build an extension to extend their premises in Torrevieja which will cost 18,000€ and we said we would raise them 10,000€ towards this and we did !!

At the Christmas Fayre at the Emerald Isle on 10th of December, we will present the BIG cheque for 10,000€ to them for their extension.
Luis from Adiem confirmed the President and members of the executive, as well as volunteers will attend.
So we ask that as many of you attend from 11 until 4pm and buy from the stalls which will have delicious cakes, jams and sauces.

Help at Home will have “Guess the weight of the Christmas Cake ”

and , name the “Christmas Lion ” and many stalls will have Festive arts and crafts.

Helping Flood victims

These are images of the devastation caused on 13th September 2019.

So we share some photographs with you of great people who volunteer and collected the school books, pencils rulers ,jotters for distribution at our shop in Cabo Roig .
Then the warehouse where the donations are collected and sorted for those who lost so much in the flooding.
Then a photo of one of the homeless men whom we have been helping regularly with some food,clothing and toiletries. Without HAHCB volunters and supporters this would not be possible – thank you all so much

17 September Flood Victims Fundraiser

Yesterday our President Carmen was invited to join Stevie Spit and friends to organise a fundraising event at the Emerald Isle Tuesday 17th September to help our local flood victims.
We were honoured to be asked and hope that if you cannot attend then please use our donate button – any amount will be appreciated and used to directly help these families.

We are donating the takings from both our Playa Flamenca and Cabo Roig shops on Tuesday 17/09/19

We are asking local businesses and friends to give us raffle prizes , bake some cakes or any assistance .
Start time for stall holders from 10 am entertainers from 12 – please help us in someway to alleviate the dire circumstances caused by the recent storms.

Camino Girls raised 2,150€ for Us

 

The “Camino Girls” are seen presenting a cheque for 2,150€, the proceeds of their sponsored walk, to Joan and Jacky from the Quesada Branch of Help at Home Costa Blanca. They were joined by their 2 main sponsors, Mark Vincent from Vincent Real Estate and Clive Smith from Smart Currency Exchange.

The “Camino Girls”, Joan Bennett, Karen Palmer & Heather Meston walked the 116K walk from Sarria to Santiago, which is part of the St James Pilgrimage (Camino de Campostela), as part of their “bucket wish list”. They said it was an amazing experience especially the scenery, spiritual uplifting and the comradery of other pilgrims from all countries who they met on the way.
The girls said that it was not all a bed of roses – blisters, sore feet, aching legs but when asked if they would do it again they said “you bet!!” They are already planning to walk another section next year. After getting their “passport” stamped twice a day along the Way, on reaching Santiago they went to the office and received their certificates, which they say is a real honour.


Joan, Karen & Heather would like to thank everyone who donated so generously enabling them to exceed their target of 1,000€ by 100% and the charity, Help at Home Costa Blanca would like to congratulate them on their achievement and thank “the girls” for their kind generosity.

Murder Mystery Wedding raised 1,000€

What a wonderful event this was for Help at Home Costa Blanca, we all gathered at Drivers bar in Villamartin for an evening of fun , laughter and intrigue on Monday 17th June 2019

During the wedding meal one of the wedding guests clutched at her throat and collapsed to be pronounced dead at the scene.

Who was the culprit?. The local policeman came to investigate and many of the guests asked questions to which the top table could only reply YES or NO !!

After a thorough investigation and everyone who attended the wedding had tried to solve this mystery a guests found a note in the murder lady’s bag. She had poisoned herself ! One guests was correct and won the prize.

It was so much fun and Barry the Groom’s Dad, made everyone laugh so much.

Once all the money from the auction and raffle and ticket sales was counted we had raised 1,000Euro for Adiem the House they are extending, we are helping to raise 10,000 Euro toward the 18,000Euro they need for their extension for people with mental health problems in our community.

Donated defibrillator saves life !

We cannot express how proud we are of the efforts of our volunteers and our supporters who helped us raise over 10,000€ to purchase 7 defibrillators for the local community.

We were contacted by the local police force who told us one of the 5 defibrillators we donated to the Orihuela Costa Police cars -was used by the local police the other day to save a man’s life.

The incident was the first where these life saving machine were put to the test.

The police were trained by the Red Cross to operate the device which Help at Home donated to them.
